June 9 marks World Accreditation Day, a global initiative established by International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) to raise awareness of the value of accreditation.
The Accreditation Canada Diagnostics (formerly IQMH) program was initially developed by the Ontario Ministry of Health, which transformed the province’s laboratory sector. The program is now internationally recognized in the medical laboratory world, providing ISO 15189 accreditation as an MRA signatory (Mutual Recognition Arrangement of ILAC and its Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC).
AC Diagnostics-accredited facilities can take pride in knowing their services play an important role in elevating the confidence of patients and their families, physicians, nurses, facility administration, government, and many others as they provide safe, high quality medical laboratory and diagnostic imaging services.
This year’s World Accreditation Day theme focuses on supporting the implementation of sustainable development goals (SDGs) and how accreditation, along with other quality infrastructure institutions, provides technical foundations that are critical to the functioning of developed and developing societies.
