Accreditation Canada (AC) Diagnostics today announced the launch of the Echocardiography Quality Improvement (EQI) Pediatric Accreditation Program, expanding its established EQI framework to support quality, consistency, and patient safety in pediatric echocardiography.
PACE Cardiology is the first organization to enrol in the program, building on its existing accreditation within the EQI Adult Program and extending its approach to quality across patient populations.
The EQI Pediatric Program evaluates facilities providing transthoracic echocardiography services to pediatric patients through structured case review and peer assessment. The program assesses clinical performance alongside imaging and reporting practices, quality management systems, and patient safety processes. It is available to facilities across Canada and internationally.
“Pediatric echocardiography informs critical clinical decisions, where precision and consistency directly impact patient outcomes. The EQI Pediatric Program introduces a structured, independent approach to evaluating both clinical performance and the systems that support pediatric echocardiography”, said Mayank Khanna, Director, AC Diagnostics. By incorporating tailored pediatric requirements and leveraging the expertise of trained pediatric sonographers and physicians, the program strengthens accountability and enables organizations to demonstrate quality at a system level. This approach supports continuous improvement and reinforces confidence in pediatric echocardiography services across the healthcare system.”
PACE Cardiology’s participation reflects a deliberate, system-wide approach to quality governance. Already accredited in the EQI Adult Program, the organization is extending the same standards and practices across its pediatric services.
“Our approach to echocardiography is grounded in consistency, not variation,” said the CEO of PACE Cardiology. “Extending accreditation into EQI Pediatric reflects how we apply the same standard of quality across every patient population we serve.”
The EQI Pediatric Program includes independent case review, on-site assessment, and structured feedback to support continuous improvement. Accreditation provides formal recognition that a facility’s services, processes, and systems align with established requirements for quality and competence.
“Quality is built through systems, not isolated actions,” the PACE Cardiology CEO added. “Participating in both Adult and Pediatric EQI programs reflects how we approach accountability across our entire organization.”
PACE Cardiology’s early participation sets an initial benchmark for integrated quality across adult and pediatric echocardiography and signals a broader shift toward strengthened governance and performance in diagnostic imaging.
