In Ontario, the Echocardiography Quality Improvement (EQI) Program is mandatory for all adult echocardiography facilities, with the adult program geared to patients aged 18 and over. Facilities are assessed in accordance with the Echocardiography Quality Improvement Program Accreditation Requirements.

The Adult Echocardiography Quality Improvement Program assesses a facility’s ability to perform diagnostic echocardiography and provides formal recognition of this competence through accreditation. The program also equips facilities with the tools needed to standardize processes, address diminishing resources, mitigate risk, and drive continual quality improvement, ultimately strengthening patient safety and supporting the delivery of high-quality diagnostic care.
