On November 27, 2025, Accreditation Canada Diagnostics hosted an insightful webinar on Benefits of Echocardiography Quality Improvement (EQI) Accreditation. The session moderated by EQI Clinical Specialist Santiago Luna, featured panelists Dr. Anthony Sanfilippo (EQI Advisory Panel Chair), and Paul McMullin (EQI assessor and client), who shared how accreditation elevates patient care and strengthens operational standards across echocardiography facilities.
In September 2025, Accreditation Canada’s Echocardiography Quality Improvement (EQI) team launched its new educational program, Preparing for Echocardiography Quality Improvement Accreditation, designed to support facilities in their preparation for upcoming accreditation activities.
The joint webinar from Accreditation Canada and the Ontario Association of Cardiologists on December 3rd delivered a clear, practical update on the Echocardiography Quality Improvement (EQI) Program and what echo laboratories across Ontario should expect as the program moves into its next phase.
Leaders from the Echocardiography Quality Improvement (EQI) Program Advisory Panel and program operations outlined recent developments, new accreditation requirements and the timelines that affect adult and pediatric echo services. Speakers included Dr. Tony Sanfilippo (Chair, EQI Advisory Panel), Dr. Mike Hartleib (OAC Board Member and EQI Advisory Panel), Shireen Persaud (EQI Operations Lead, Accreditation Canada Diagnostics) and Tim Holman (Executive Director, OAC).

Accreditation Canada (AC) Diagnostics is pleased to announce the release of version 25.10 (October 2025) of the 15189 ISO Plus™ Diagnostic Imaging Requirements. Diagnostic Imaging facilities currently enrolled in AC Diagnostics accreditation can now access all files related to this version through the client portal, QView™. Navigate to these files in QView™ by clicking General – Accreditation, Diagnostic Imaging Program, Accreditation Requirements. This folder contains the Requirements, a change report comparing version 24.04 to version 25.10, and an updated list of references to support the Requirements. Facilities notified of an upcoming accreditation assessment visit as of October 15, 2025 will be assessed against version 25.10.
The EQI program is excited to announce the launch of a new education course for program clients, “Preparing for Echocardiography Quality Improvement (EQI) Accreditation.”
This six-hour course will be delivered in three sessions, starting in September 2025.

Accreditation Canada (AC) Diagnostics is seeking volunteers to sit on its Accreditation Advisory Panel effective January 1, 2024.
Membership on this Advisory Panel consists of a three-year term of office, renewable once. The Advisory Panel meets about 4 times per year for half-day meetings.
We are pleased to announce that Version 9 (June 2023) of the Accreditation Canada (AC) Diagnostics Medical Laboratory Requirements is now available. Laboratories currently enrolled for AC Diagnostics accreditation have access to all files related to this version through the secure client portal, QView™. The Qview™ folder with these files can be found under General – Accreditation, Laboratory Program, Accreditation Requirements. It contains the requirements, a change report comparing Version 8 to Version 9, and an updated list of references to support the requirements. Documents are available in English and French. In addition, an educational PowerPoint has been added under General – Accreditation, Laboratory Program, Educational Material. The French version of the education material will follow.
