World Accreditation Day, established by the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) is an initiative created to recognize and bring awareness to the value of accreditation.
This year’s theme, Sustainability in Economic Growth and the Environment, focuses on how accreditation supports nine of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These are, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation, and infrastructure, sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, climate action, life below water, and life on land.
The world economy relies heavily on natural resources provided by healthy ecosystems, and yet we continue to put these ecosystems through enormous stress and consume resources at an alarming rate.
Health Standards Organization (HSO), together with its affiliates, Accreditation Canada (AC), and the Institute for Quality Management in Healthcare (IQMH) have launched a strategy that also supports the United Nations SDGs.
Our goal is to improve health care quality so we can move closer to a vision of safer care and a healthier world by utilizing quality infrastructure tools such as standards, assessment programs, education, and capacity building. Through this, we hope to improve patient and workforce safety, advance integrated care and strengthen the health of communities.
World Accreditation Day provides the opportunity for us to share our vision for safer care and a healthier world. We invite you to join our mission and learn more about our programs and services.
